Twin brothers Godswill Oyor and Lawrence Oyor come together on “Banner,” an extended worship song that lifts up God as the One who goes before His people.
The Oyor twins have ministered side by side for years. Together they co-founded the Davidic Minstrels, a movement centred on worship, and they have recorded several songs together, including “Burn the World” and “I Will Never Bow.” Lawrence Oyor has become one of the leading voices in Nigerian gospel music, and “Banner” brings the brothers back together in worship.
A banner is a flag lifted high over an army, showing whose side it stands on. After Israel's victory over Amalek, Moses built an altar and called it Jehovah-nissi, “The LORD is my banner” (Exodus 17:15). Song of Solomon 2:4 says, “He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.” To call God your banner is to declare that you fight under His name, and that His love covers you.
That is a word for every believer facing a battle. The victory does not depend on our strength but on the One whose banner we march under. Psalm 20:5 says, “We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners.”
At 12 minutes 27 seconds, “Banner” is not a quick listen. It is an atmosphere of worship to sit in, ideal for long prayer sessions, vigils, worship nights and moments when you want to wait on God without rushing.
A prayer for today: Lord, You are my banner. I lift Your name over every battle I face, and I rest in Your love over me. Amen.
