Worship leader Dunsin Oyekan calls every heart to bow in “Worship Your Maker,” a song from his album The Gospel of the Kingdom.
The album arrived in January 2021, and alongside “Worship Your Maker” it carries songs such as “More Than a Song,” “Forever,” “Yah,” “Fragrance to Fire,” “The Advantage” and “The Blood and The Name.” Dunsin Oyekan wrote “Worship Your Maker” himself.
The song is a call to worship that goes deeper than words. It is not about singing louder or sounding better, but about the inner man rising to honour the One who made us. Listeners have described it as a spiritual exercise: a song you don't just hear, but take part in.
That call runs all through Scripture. Psalm 95:6 says, “O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.” Jesus told the woman at the well that the Father seeks those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24). Worship is our first response to who God is, before we ask Him for anything.
Dunsin Oyekan is also the convener of The Outpouring, the worship and revival gathering that began in Lagos in 2021, and “Worship Your Maker” carries that same atmosphere of surrender.
At 7 minutes 54 seconds, the song gives you room to stay in God's presence. Play it in your quiet time, during prayer meetings and whenever you want to turn your attention fully to Him.
A prayer for today: Lord, You made me and You are worthy of all my worship. Teach me to worship You in spirit and in truth, every day of my life. Amen.
